Men’s Single
In the exciting Men’s Single match, Thailand’s Kantaphon WANGCHAROEN lost to China’s SHI Yu Qi as SHI advanced into the first Semi-Finals after a year of suspension by the BWF. SHI’s opponent will be the Chinese Taipei’s CHOU Tien Chen [4], as CHOU defeated India’s PRANNOY H. S. in the Quarter-Finals round.
Denmark’s Anders ANTOSEN [3] went into the semis by winning Japan’s Kanta TSUNEYAMA 21-11, 21-12. The Danish will face Japan’s Kenta NISHIMOTO in the semi-final round.
Women’s Single
Thailand’s Pornpawee CHOCHUWONG bows out from the Quarter-Final, losing to Japan’s Akane YAMAGUCHI [1], 21-18 and 21-18. The Women’s World No.1, YAMAGUCHI, will play China’s CHEN Yu Fei [4], tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Thailand’s star shuttler Ratchanok INTANON lost to the Chinese Taipei’s TAI Tzu Ying [2]. As a result, INTANON will leave Japan Open 2022, while TAI will face Korea AN Se Young [3].
Men’s Double
In Men’s double, Malaysia duo ONG Yew Sin/TEO Ee Yi [8] exit the Quarter-Finals round by losing to Korea’s CHOI Sol Gyu/KIM Won Ho, 21-17, 17-21, and 13-21. Korea’s duo will face China’s Liang Wei Keng/WANG Change in the semi-finals round.
On the other hand, Denmark’s Kim ASTRUP/Anders Skaarup RASMUSSEN [7] advanced into the semi-finals. The Danish pair will face Korean KIM Gi Jung/KIM Sa Rang in the semi-finals.
Women’s Double
Thailand’s pair Jongkolphan KITITHARAKUL/Rawinda PRAJONGJAI [7] lost to Korea’s KIM So Yeong/KONG Hee Yong [4], thus exiting the Japan Open 2022. In the semi-final, KIM/KONG will meet their own country’s JEONG Na Eun/KIM Hye Jeong tomorrow. Meanwhile, another Korean pair, BAEK Ha Na/LEE Yu Lim, will play China’s CHEN Qing Chen/JIA Yi Fan [1] tomorrow in the semi-final.
Mixed’s Double
Malaysia’s mixed HOO Pang Ron/TOH Ee Wei lost China’s ZHENG Si Wei/HUANG Ya Qiong [1]. As a result, the Malaysia duo exited the Japan Open 2022. The China duo will face Japan’s Yuta WATANABE/Arisa HIGASHINO [3] tomorrow.
Thailand’s mixed Dechapol PUAVARANUKROH/Sapsiree TAERATTANACHAI [2] defeated Korea’s KO Sung Hyun/EOM Hye Won 21-11 and 21-18, advancing into the semi-final. The Thai’s duo, will face World Ranking No.4, WANG Yi Lyu/HUANG Dong Ping [4] from China.
