MotoGP star Alex Rins has issued a public apology for his heated confrontation with a track marshal following a practice crash at the Indonesian Grand Prix, while simultaneously calling out a vicious wave of online death threats directed at him in the aftermath.

Taking to social media to clear the air, Rins addressed the controversial incident that occurred as he scrambled to return to his team's pit box.

"It was a stressful moment and I reacted in a way that I shouldn't have," Rins explained in a detailed statement. The rider formally apologized for an inappropriate hand gesture directed at the volunteer, acknowledging that his actions set a poor example for young fans watching the sport. He also took the opportunity to reiterate his profound respect for the track marshals at the Mandalika Circuit, emphasizing the critical and dangerous work they perform to keep riders safe.

While Rins took full accountability for his momentary lapse in judgment under extreme adrenaline, he revealed a darker side to the public backlash. The rider disclosed that his inbox had been flooded with severe cyberbullying, including disturbing messages explicitly referencing violence and death.

Accepting that fans had a right to be disappointed in his initial behavior, Rins drew a firm line against the vitriol. He firmly asserted that "threats and abuse should never be acceptable" under any circumstances.

Concluding his statement, Rins took full responsibility for his mistake while reminding the passionate motorsport community that riders are human and prone to errors, calling for an end to the toxic online harassment overshadowing the race weekend.
