Malaysian Football League (MFL) has appointed Giorgio Pompili Rossi as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Giorgio Rossi, who was previously the LaLiga Delegate in Malaysia, will take over from Datuk Stuart Ramalingam, whose contract expired on August 31, 2024. This marks the first time that an individual from abroad has been appointed as MFL CEO.
Giorgio Rossi brings with him a wealth of experience in the football industry, having started his career in 2013 with a Serie A club’s commercial agency. He later worked with Valencia CF in Spain before joining LaLiga in 2017. During his time in Malaysia, from 2017 to 2021, he played a pivotal role in promoting LaLiga and its clubs among local football fans.
Since 2021, he has served as the LaLiga Delegate in Thailand, managing operations in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar.
MFL President Dato’ Ab Ghani Hassan expressed confidence in Pompili Rossi’s abilities, noting his extensive knowledge of Malaysian football and the region. Rossi is expected to focus on enhancing the competition and commercial aspects of the Malaysian League. His official start will follow the completion of his visa process.
Dato’ Ab Ghani also thanked Datuk Stuart for his three years of dedicated service, during which he made significant contributions to the MFL, including the restructuring of the Malaysia League, the implementation of VAR, and increasing the commercial value of the league.
