Marc Marquez delivered yet another MotoGP masterclass, snatching victory on the final lap of a dramatic and rain-soaked Tissot Sprint at the Liqui Moly Grand Prix of Germany, fending off a determined Marco Bezzecchi to extend his title charge in style.
The Ducati Lenovo Team rider made a daring late move to deny Aprilia Racing’s Bezzecchi and claim his 10th Sprint win in 11 weekends, solidifying his dominance in the 2025 season.
Fabio Quartararo also made headlines, as the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP ace returned to the Sprint podium for the first time since the 2023 Dutch GP, holding off a charging Fabio Di Giannantonio in the closing laps to clinch P3.
From pole position, Marquez got a strong launch but ran wide at Turn 1, immediately dropping back to sixth. At the front, Bezzecchi capitalized on the chaos to take the early lead, with Franco Morbidelli and Quartararo quickly slotting into the top three.
However, Morbidelli’s challenge ended abruptly with a high-speed crash at Turn 8 on Lap 3, allowing Quartararo to advance to P2. Meanwhile, Johann Zarco, struggling on medium rear wets, slipped to 10th.
Marquez, finding his rhythm, began carving through the field. After passing Di Giannantonio and Pedro Acosta, he turned up the pace, cutting down Bezzecchi’s 2.4-second lead with relentless precision. By Lap 9, Marquez had surged past Quartararo for second, and the chase was on.
As the laps ticked down, Marquez continued to close the gap on Bezzecchi, slicing it to under half a second with three laps to go. The tension reached a boiling point on the final lap, where Marquez launched a bold move at Turn 1. Though it initially seemed too optimistic, he expertly held his line to take the lead at Turn 2 — a pass that sealed the race.
Bezzecchi fought hard but couldn’t mount a counterattack, conceding victory to the charging Spaniard, while Quartararo successfully defended against Di Giannantonio to lock down the final podium spot.
