Fédération Internationale de Football Association(FIFA) has opened ‘Football Video Support’, the new system for Football, to help countries that can’t implement the use of the Video Assistant Referee(VAR) system.
This system was opened by Pierluigi Collina, Chairman of FIFA Referees Committee during the FIFA Congress 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Football Video Support will made for countries and competitions that cannot implement VAR because of a limited budget, limited cameras, and a lack of match officials.
The solution of Football Video Support is a more affordable system to support referees in their decision-making.
In addition, this system does not require a minimum number of cameras and no video match officials.
As Football Video Support in the sample needs requirement for 3 cameras with an operator and 7 cameras automated without an operator
In addition, this system will have a ‘Challenge card’ for the teams to request to referee to check if not agree with the decision, which challenge is similar the Badminton, and Futsal in the system Video Support(VS)
However, FIFA tested the video football support system in the Blue Stars/FIFA Youth Cup 2024 in Switzerland on 8-9 May 2024.
