Fergus Tierney, the 21-year-old forward for the Malaysian national team, has officially made a move to Nakhonpathom United in Thai League 1 for the second leg of the 2024/25 season.
The transfer comes after a mutual agreement to terminate his contract with Chonburi FC, a Thai League 2 club, where he made 12 appearances, contributing one goal and one assist.
Tierney’s arrival fills the ASEAN quota spot that Nakhonpathom United has been missing since the start of the season. His signing is expected to bolster the team’s attacking options and provide much-needed depth alongside forwards Valdomiro Suarez and Taku Ito.
Nakhonpathom United is currently in a precarious position, sitting 15th in the 16-team Thai League 1 table with only nine points from 15 matches. They find themselves in the relegation zone, desperately needing reinforcements to turn their season around.
Tierney’s addition is part of the club’s effort to rejuvenate their squad and spark a revival in the second half of the campaign. His pace, versatility, and ability to adapt to different attacking roles could provide a much-needed boost to their offense.
While Tierney has reportedly joined the club, Nakhonpathom United is expected to make an official announcement after the New Year. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see if the young Malaysian can make a difference in the club’s fight for survival.
