Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), today received a visit from the National Athlete Welfare Foundation (YAKEB) at Wisma FAM, Kelana Jaya.
YAKEB delegation led by its chairman, Dato’ Hon. Dr Hj Noorul Ariffin Abdul Majeed, was welcomed by the Secretary General of FAM, Datuk Noor Azman Hj Rahman, to discuss the cooperation of both parties in ensuring that the welfare of former national football players is always given full attention.
“FAM is the first sports association to invite YAKEB to establish cooperation. We are very pleased to be able to visit Wisma FAM today.” Noorul Ariffin said after the visit.
“To ensure that various forms of assistance or donations can be channeled to these former athletes, we also welcome former football players who have represented the country in the SEA Games, Asian Games and Olympic Games to register as YAKEB members online at www. yakeb.org.my or call us at 03-20924841/4844.”
“Currently, we have a total of 2,998 members who have registered as YAKEB members of which 340 are former football players including 43 former female players. We are targeting a total of 500 to 600 former football players to register as members,”
Meanwhile, the YAKEB visit was also joined by Puan Krishna Priya, the widow of the late B. Satiananthan, the former head coach Malaysia national team, passed away on 18 July 2023.
YAKEB and FAM have each agreed on the form of aid and contribution that will be given to the family of the late Satiananthan in appreciation of his services and sacrifices in the national football arena.
YAKEB has so far provided assistance and donations to 60 former football players through the YAKEB Special Assistance Scheme.
