Datuk Haji Hamidin Mohd Amin, President of Football Association of Malaysia(FAM), does not view this situation as easy at all, even though it is seen as a bright opportunity to advance to the next round of FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers round 2.
Malaysia has drawn in Group D in FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers round 2 along with Oman, Kyrgyz Republic and Winner of the first round between Chinese Taipei or Timor Leste.
However, Hamidin also stressed that there was no easy match for Malaysia, even though they managed to avoid being drawn against other Asian big teams and look the three opponents in the group were also the challengers if the country’s squad did not make the best preparations.
“We still need to respect Oman, Kyrgyz Republic, and Chinese Taipei or Timor Leste. Whoever our opponent is will still be a problem if we don’t prepare properly.” DHMA said with BERNAMA
“As I announced to Pan Gon, we need to prepare our homes first, our team must be more stable in continuing the several friendly matches arranged after this.”
“Our dream is that we want to qualify in merit once again for the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia. So it’s not happy if we don’t prepare as well as possible.”
“We are grounded in real life and we focus first on qualifying for the Asian Cup because we have to be consistent to be worthy of the top competitors,”
