Malaysia’s rising Moto3 star Hakim Danish Ramli delivered a sensational start to the 2026 Moto3 Czech Grand Prix, finishing fastest in both Friday sessions while rewriting the Automotodrom Brno record books not once, but twice.
The AEON Credit–MT Helmets–MSi rider showcased blistering pace throughout the opening day of Round 9, establishing himself as the rider to beat after setting new all-time Moto3 lap records in both Free Practice 1 (FP1) and the afternoon Practice (PR) session.
Hakim wasted no time announcing his intentions in Friday’s FP1, topping the timesheets with a stunning lap of 2:04.938.
The lap eclipsed the previous all-time Moto3 lap record at Brno of 2:05.019, set by Guido Pini during the 2025 season, making Hakim the fastest Moto3 rider ever around the iconic Czech circuit.
It was a perfect response from the Malaysian youngster, who arrived at Brno determined to bounce back after his unfortunate retirement at the previous round in Hungary.
If his morning performance was impressive, Hakim raised the bar even higher during the afternoon Practice session.
Saving his best until the final flying lap, the 18-year-old clocked an incredible 2:04.754, improving his own record by nearly two-tenths of a second to once again rewrite the Brno record books.
The remarkable effort secured P1 for the second consecutive session and confirmed Hakim as the fastest rider on Friday.
His pace also earned him an automatic place in Q2, allowing him to bypass Saturday’s Q1 session and giving him a valuable opportunity to fight directly for pole position.
Hakim’s commanding performance underlines the confidence within the AEON Credit–MT Helmets–MSi garage after the team focused on refining the Malaysian’s package following the disappointment of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Throughout both sessions, Hakim consistently demonstrated strong race pace, impressive corner speed and excellent adaptability around the demanding Brno circuit, one of the most technical layouts on the Moto3 calendar.
With two all-time lap records in a single day, the Malaysian has firmly established himself as one of the leading contenders heading into qualifying.
The Moto3 field returns to action on Saturday with Free Practice 2 before qualifying begins later in the afternoon.
Having secured direct progression into Q2, Hakim will now shift his attention towards challenging for pole position and maintaining his impressive momentum ahead of Sunday’s Czech Grand Prix.
