National mixed doubles pair Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin created a sensation at the China Masters by defeating second seeds Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin of China to advance to the quarter-finals.
The world-ranked No. 23 Malaysians displayed extraordinary determination, overturning their previous head-to-head record with a 16-21, 21-14, 21-19 victory in a thrilling 51-minute match at the Shenzhen Gymnasium.
This marks Pang Ron-Su Yin’s first win over the Chinese pair, having previously fallen to them at the Australian Open and Denmark Open earlier this year. They will next face Taiwan’s Chen Cheng Kuan-Hsu Yin Hui, whom they defeated at the Masters Orleans 2024.
