In a bold move set to reignite Malaysia’s mixed doubles hopes, the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has officially announced the reunion of Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei as a competitive pair on the international circuit.
The decision follows a formal request from both players, coupled with extensive discussions between BAM’s coaching staff and the duo—highlighting a shared desire to rekindle the chemistry that once propelled them to a career-high world ranking of No. 3.
“This is a strategic decision based on the athletes’ own commitment and belief in their potential together,” BAM confirmed in an official statement. “We believe they have unfinished business on the world stage, and this reunion offers them the platform to chase that goal once again.”
Chen and Toh, once considered one of Malaysia’s most promising mixed doubles pairs, made headlines with their sharp coordination and aggressive style of play. Their return is expected to bring depth and renewed firepower to Malaysia’s mixed doubles lineup, especially ahead of key tournaments this season.
The duo’s first test will be at the Singapore Open (27 May – 1 June), where they aim to make an immediate impact and begin their climb back up the world rankings.
