French Open 2026: Man-Tee Come From a Game Down to Win All-Malaysian Final
World No. 11 Pair Beat Sze Fei-Izzuddin 13-21, 21-15, 21-7 in 44 Minutes for Their First Title in Over a Year; Head-to-Head Now Level at 2-2
Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun surprised the field by winning the French Open, beating fellow Malaysians Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani in the final at Arena Grand Paris today.
Wei Chong-Kai Wun lost the first game but beat the tournament’s sixth seeds 13-21, 21-15, 21-7 in 44 minutes. The win also ends Malaysia’s 22-year wait for a men’s doubles title at the French Open, which was last won by Gan Teik Chai-Koo Kien Keat in 2004.
World No. 5 pair Sze Fei and Izzuddin began fiercely and took the first game 21-13. They looked to be heading for the title that has come close for them in a strong season, having already won the Indonesia Masters and the Indonesia Open this year.
The world No. 11 pair then raised their game. They won the second game 21-15 to level the match, and in the decider they kept increasing the tempo until their opponents were far behind, finishing with a 21-7 win. Sze Fei-Izzuddin managed only seven points in the final game.
The result levels the head-to-head between the two pairs at 2-2. Sze Fei-Izzuddin had beaten Wei Chong-Kai Wun twice in their three previous meetings.
The win meant a lot to Wei Chong and Kai Wun, who last won a title at the Malaysia Masters in May last year. It was also their first title since Wei Chong came back from a knee injury, and the pair had only recently reunited after almost five months apart. They had lost in the first round of the Denmark Open a week earlier.
