Brad Maloney, head coach of Malaysia U23 national team still praised even though they lost 1-4 in the opening match of AFC U23 Asian Cup 2022 group stage, Group C yesterday.
“Korea Republic is a good opponent, a defending champion. We really expect a tough and challenging match to face, so that’s what they gave us,” Maloney said in a press conference.
“But I’m very proud of my players because they don’t give up easily. They missed two goals and returned to catch up with one goal “
“But unfortunately he conceded two goals late in the game. Such a situation can happen when you are dealing with a good team. If you give them a few chances, they will punish you like what happened tonight.”
“I feel like my players showed incredible discipline in the first half and really made Korea work hard to get goals.”
“In the second half we played more openly to score and the result was one goal, it was a great thing.”
“But like I said, we gave some chances to the opposing team so we were punished in the end,”
