Malaysia national team was eliminated after losing to Bahrain national team 0-1 in the AFC Asian Cup 2023 Group Stage, Group E at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.
In the beginning game, Malaysia played defence, swapped to attack and got the opportunity to reach the goal.
In the 16th minute, Malaysia almost scored from Arif Aiman’s shot outside the box, but Ibrahim Lutfalla, Bahrain’s goalkeeper, saved.
Malaysia got the opportunity again in the 20th minute following Paulo Josue’s crossing to the penalty box for Arif Aiman but missed out.
In the remaining time of the first half, Malaysia was the side more than attacking. There was no additional score, ending the first half at 0-0.
In the second half, Malaysia was substituted by Natxo Inso to replace Syamer Kitty Abba.
Bahrain played a heavy attack on Malaysia and got more opportunities.
But in the stoppage time, in the 90+5th minute following the corner-kick of Bahrain Ali Madan’s shot from outside the box to the second post, Bahrain led 1-0
The remaining stoppage time had no additional score, ending Bahrain won 1-0.
