Indonesia’s U16 national team secured the first spot in the semi-final after beating Laos’s U16 national team, scoring 6-1 in the ASEAN U16 Boys Championship 2024 Group Stage, Group A at Manahan Stadium, Solo.
Laos took the lead through Phayak Siphanom’s penalty kick in the seventh minute, which penetrated Indonesia’s goal.
However, Indonesia managed to bounce back and make a comeback, ending with seven goals from Zahaby Ghply’s 12-yard kick in the 24th minute to Sayyavath Vansavath’s own goal in the 30th minute.
Josh Holong scored a brace for Indonesia in the 37th and 61st minutes, Putu Panji in the 45+3 minute, and Muhammad Mierza Firjatullah in the 79th minute.
This victory made the Indonesian U-16 National Team qualify for the semifinals of the AFF U16 Cup as the winner of Group A. The team nicknamed Garuda Asia swept all three matches.
Meanwhile, Laos ended Group A as runners-up with six points and still has the opportunity to advance to the top four of the AFF U16 via the best second-place route.
