Thailand Futsal National Team missed final round first time after losing to Indonesia Futsal National Team scoring 1-5 in the ASEAN Futsal Championship 2024 Semi-Final at Terminal Hall in Terminal21 Korat Shopping Centre, Nakhonratchasima.
Thailand began aggressively, with a chance in the 4th minute as Thanachot Saesaeng delivered a kick-in to Peerapat Kaewwilai, whose left-footed shot was saved by Indonesian goalkeeper Hamed Habibie.
Indonesia capitalized in the 8th minute with a swift counterattack. Rio Pangustu assisted Holypaul Sumilena, who struck a clinical right-footed goal, putting Indonesia ahead 1-0.
Thailand struggled to equalize, narrowly missing opportunities through Thanawat Kerdbangrachan (11th minute) and Ammarin Ekaphan (17th minute). The first half ended with Indonesia maintaining their 1-0 lead.
Indonesia extended their lead early in the second half. In the 22nd minute, Wendy Bryan scored from Holypaul Sumilena’s assist, making it 2-0.
Despite Thailand’s persistent attempts, including a close shot by Ammarin Ekaphan in the 24th minute, Indonesia’s defense, led by goalkeeper Hamed Habibie, remained solid.
Indonesia pulled further ahead in the 28th minute when Wendy Bryan unleashed a powerful long-range shot, her second goal, to make it 3-0.
Thailand’s power play mistake in the 33rd minute allowed Rio Pangustu to score from midfield, increasing Indonesia’s lead to 4-0.
Thailand finally broke through in the 37th minute during a power play, with Thanachot Sorsawaeng setting up Thiraphat Muensri for a close-range goal, making it 1-4.
Indonesia sealed the victory in the 38th minute when Freeman Adriansiah fired a long-range strike, ending the game 5-1.
Thailand will compete in the third-place match against Australia on November 10, 2024, at 3:00 PM, at Terminal Hall, Terminal 21 Korat Shopping Centre.
Indonesia Advances to the final to face Vietnam, who triumphed over Australia in a thrilling 5-4 extra-time victory.
