Malaysian racing sensation Hafizh Syahrin has made a thunderous statement at the 2025 FIM Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) by clinching P1 in the ASB1000 Practice sessions of Round 3, held at the iconic Mobility Resort Motegi.
Representing the JDT Racing Team, the former MotoGP rider displayed his trademark speed and experience on Japanese soil, setting the fastest lap of the day at 1:50.838 – a time that comfortably placed him atop the combined timesheets ahead of the weekend’s key qualifying and Race 1 sessions.
“We were the fastest overall today in FP1, FP2, and FP3, except for FP2 where we didn’t go out due to tricky weather conditions. There was no reason to take unnecessary risks,” Hafizh explained post-session with TWMR.
“I’m happy with the team’s effort on day one. We’re not perfect yet – we’ve still got room to improve, especially in the final sector. But I believe tomorrow will bring better weather and another chance to push. Hopefully, I can deliver a strong qualifying and prepare well for the race.”
Despite unpredictable weather briefly halting their momentum, Hafizh and his crew opted for a cautious approach in FP2, choosing not to take risks on a damp circuit. That decision ultimately paid off, as the 30-year-old closed the day as the fastest rider in the premier class.
This performance arrives at a pivotal point in the ASB1000 season, with Hafizh poised to mount a serious challenge for the championship lead. His strong showing has further elevated JDT Racing Team’s rising reputation within the Asian racing scene, reinforcing their ambition to dominate the elite category.
As the paddock now shifts its attention to Saturday’s qualifying and Race 1, all eyes will be on Hafizh Syahrin to see if he can convert his dominant pace into victory – and take another significant step forward in his quest for the 2025 ASB1000 crown.
