Malaysia’s first ONE world champion gets the fight he has been chasing, with the Muay Thai strawweight crown on the line

Aliff Sor. Dechapan will finally get his shot at the sole ONE strawweight Muay Thai world title, facing champion Prajanchai Pong-Suphan P.K. in a unification bout at ONE The Inner Circle 43 on Friday, 18 December, at Lumpinee Stadium (Ramintra) in Bangkok.

The 22-year-old Thai-Malaysian, whose full name is Ahmad Nor Iman Aliff Rakib, is the interim champion and has long wanted to test himself against the 32-year-old Prajanchai. The two have faced off twice before, but the fight was held up while Prajanchai recovered from injury.

Aliff arrives in the best form of his career. He has won six fights in a row, and in July at The Inner Circle 23 he knocked out Thai legend Sam-A Gaiyanghadao in the fifth round at Lumpinee. The win earned him the interim title and made him the first Malaysian to hold a ONE World title.

He said in August that he wanted the unification bout to be held in Malaysia, to give him home support and put more pressure on his opponent. He has also said that if he wins, he wants to hold the belt for at least three years and inspire young Malaysians to take up Muay Thai.

Prajanchai will be a tough test. He defended his Muay Thai title once, with a fourth-round TKO of Britain’s Ellis Badr Barboza at ONE Fight Night 28 in February 2025. He then lost a unanimous decision to Jonathan Di Bella at ONE Fight Night 36 in October that year, which cost him the ONE strawweight kickboxing title. He was out for a year with an injury.

He returned on 16 October at The Inner Circle 35, losing a split decision (2-1) to China’s Wang Junguang in a kickboxing contest. It was his first fight in a year, and he says he is fit again for the unification bout.
