Rising Thai-Malay Muay Thai sensation Aliff Sor.Dechaphan has made his championship ambitions clear after delivering a thunderous first-round knockout against Russia’s Shamil Adukov at ONE Fight Night 28 on February 8 at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.
The victory marked Alif’s third consecutive win in ONE Championship, further cementing his reputation as one of the most exciting prospects in the strawweight division.
Originally set to face Thongpoon PK.Saenchai, Alif’s fight plans took an unexpected turn when Thongpoon was forced to withdraw due to illness. In his place stepped Shamil Adukov, a decorated Russian and European K-1 kickboxing champion. Despite the sudden change in opponent, Alif showed no signs of hesitation, showcasing his adaptability and knockout power.
The 20-year-old fighter wasted no time imposing his will, meticulously countering Shamil’s attacks before delivering a perfectly timed left hook that sent his opponent crashing to the canvas. The referee waved off the contest as Shamil failed to recover, handing Alif a stunning first-round knockout victory.
“Changing opponents suddenly wasn’t a problem because I had enough time to study Shamil,” Alif shared after the fight. “I saw that he had dangerous weapons like back kicks and flying knees, so I prepared for them. I got hit once, but luckily it wasn’t at full force, so I wasn’t hurt too badly.”
Following his emphatic win, Alif set his sights on an even bigger challenge—a shot at the ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Championship, currently held by Petchmorakot PK.Saenchai. The reigning champion recently defended his belt with a vicious elbow knockout against Ellis Barbosa in the same event, proving his dominance in the division.
“For the next fight, if possible, I want to compete for the ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Championship,” Alif stated. “I’ve won three in a row, and I believe I’m ready for the challenge. If I face Petchmorakot, it would be the toughest fight of my career.”
Despite acknowledging the difficulty of the matchup, Alif remains determined. Drawing inspiration from Nabil Anan’s shocking knockout victory over Nico Carrillo, he expressed his belief that anything is possible inside the ring.
“Many people might think my skills aren’t on the same level, but if you don’t try, you’ll never know,” he said. “Like when Nabil fought Nico—everyone doubted him, but he won by knockout. I just want the chance to fight for the belt once in my life.”
Before resuming his championship pursuit, Alif plans to take a well-earned break, returning to Malaysia to spend time with family. After a two-week rest period, he will head back into intense training, preparing for his next big challenge—whether it be for the world title or another top-tier opponent.
“If I don’t get the title shot, that’s okay,” Alif added. “I’m ready to fight anyone in this generation.”
