Former national defender Aidil Zafuan Abdul Razak was seen with the Malaysia national team coaching staff as the national team began preparations for their opening match in the Asian Cup Qualifiers.
The Malaysia squad, currently under the leadership of Australian head coach Peter Cklamovski, is holding a training camp in Johor as part of the highly anticipated Malayan Tiger Revolution project. A total of 27 players have been called up for this crucial phase, marking a fresh start under Cklamovski’s tenure.
However, all eyes were on Aidil Zafuan, the former Johor Darul Ta’Zim (JDT) and national team center-back, who was spotted in a training kit at the Padang Seri Gelam training facility. This sighting has fueled speculation that the 38-year-old could be set for an official role within Cklamovski’s backroom staff.
Astro Arena journalist Kamal Nizam first broke the news, sharing a post on X that read:
“Former national central defender, Aidil Zafuan, was also at the Padang Seri Gelam field.”
He further hinted at a possible appointment, stating:
“It is rumored that he will be announced as one of Peter Cklamovski’s assistant coaches in the near future.”
As of now, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has yet to make any formal announcement regarding additional coaching appointments beyond the confirmed presence of Australian assistant coach Mark Milligan.
Should Aidil join the coaching ranks, it would mark a significant transition for the Malaysian football veteran, who earned 90 international caps during his illustrious playing career. His leadership and defensive expertise could prove invaluable as the national team embarks on a new chapter under Cklamovski.
With Malaysia’s opening match in the Asian Cup Qualifiers fast approaching, fans will eagerly await further updates on Aidil’s potential role in shaping the next generation of Harimau Malaya.
