Sabah FC, a club from Malaysia, keep 3 points and the opportunity for passes to the next round after beating Hai Phong FC, a club from Vietnam, with a score of 4-1 in the AFC Cup 2023/24 Group Stage, Group H at Likas Stadium, Kota Kinabalu.
Sabah FC apparently took advantage of the advantage of playing on their own court to collect full points after losing 2-3 in the first match in Vietnam last October 25.
Tonight’s action saw the visiting team almost succeed in scoring a goal as early as the second minute through an attempt by Hai Phong midfielder Nguyen Huu Son who only faced Khairul Fahmi Che Mat one on one, but his attempt went wide of the goal.
However, the position changed when Sabah striker Daniel Ting scored the first goal for Sabah in the 20th minute to inspire the team to rise and dominate the game.
Apparently, the spirit of the Sabah increased after that through attack after attack towards the opponent’s goal until they once again managed to score a goal in the 33rd minute through Darren Lok who headed in Saddil Ramdani’s free kick.
Continuing the second half, Sabah began to pressure the Hai Phong players until they forced Kim Swee’s men to camp more in their own area.
However, Sabah was fortunate to add another goal through a counter attack which was successfully utilized through Gabriel Peres’ header in the 69th minute thus putting Sabah in front with 3-0.
However, Hai Phong, who did not want to admit defeat, still tried to attack until they managed to score a single goal through the header of the striker, Yuri Mamute, in the 84th minute making the score 3-1.
However, Jafri Firdaus Chew dampened the spirits of the visitors when he completed the home team’s stylish victory in stoppage time.
