Astro will remain the Official Broadcaster of the Malaysia League for the next two seasons, extending its role in bringing Malaysian domestic football to fans across the country.
The renewed partnership will deliver live HD coverage of the major competitions, including the Piala Sumbangsih, Malaysia Super League, FA Cup, Malaysia Cup and MFL Challenge Cup.
The agreement strengthens the relationship between Astro and the Malaysian Football League (MFL) at a time when domestic football continues to grow in popularity across traditional television, streaming and digital platforms.
Astro Head of Sports Nicholas John said the company sees the Malaysia League as much more than a sporting competition.
“As the Official Broadcaster of the Malaysia League, Astro sees these matches as more than just football. They are the heartbeat of a community that brings supporters together and drives the entire local sports ecosystem.”
Astro’s latest figures underline the growing appetite for Malaysian football.
The company revealed that Sooka recorded a 52 percent increase in total viewing minutes, while Malaysia League content across Astro’s digital and social media platforms generated more than 575 million views over the past three seasons.
According to Astro, the numbers demonstrate the increasing demand for local football and reinforce its commitment to expanding the viewing experience across different platforms.
MFL president Dato’ Ab Ghani Hassan described the extension as an important vote of confidence in the future of Malaysian football.
“MFL is delighted to continue our partnership with Astro as the Official Broadcaster of the Malaysia League.”
He added that the continuation would ensure the competition remains widely accessible while strengthening the league’s commercial value.
“This continuity reflects the confidence of both parties in the potential and future of Malaysian football, while ensuring that the Malaysia League continues to receive extensive coverage and remains closer to supporters across the country.”
The MFL president also praised Astro’s continued investment in the local football ecosystem and its support for clubs and communities.
The upcoming season will also introduce a refreshed presentation team and studio format.
Former players and coaches Nidzam Jamil and Yusri Che Lah will join Astro’s pundit line-up for the first time, bringing their experience from both the playing and coaching sides of the game.
They will join established football analysts including Zaquan Adha, Razman Roslan, Farizal Marlias, Nizaruddin Yusof and Datuk Zainal Abidin Hassan.
Astro is also introducing a new studio format designed to give its football experts a bigger role in leading discussions and analysing matches.
Keesh “Mat Stats” and Faiz Gurun will oversee Super League coverage, while Bang Med will lead the FA Cup and Malaysia Cup programmes.
The refreshed format is aimed at providing supporters with deeper tactical analysis, more detailed statistics and a more dynamic matchday experience.
Astro is also continuing its grassroots commitment through the #IniPadangKita initiative.
This season, the programme will expand into selected schools, giving young players opportunities to interact with professional footballers while encouraging a stronger connection with the sport.
The initiative reflects Astro’s broader ambition to support Malaysian football not only through broadcasting but also through the development of the next generation of players and supporters.
Fans will be able to watch Malaysia League matches live through Arena Bola — Channels 803 & 804, Astro GO, NJOI, Sooka
Match updates and additional Malaysia League content will also be available across Astro’s digital platforms, including Stadium Astro and official Astro Arena social media channels.
Astro is also promoting its latest streaming package, Astro X3, which does not require a decoder, installation or long-term contract, with subscriptions starting from RM39.99 per month*.
