Tunku Ismail Idris officially launched the groundbreaking ceremony for Johor Darul Ta’zim’s new state-of-the-art training centre on Monday, marking another major milestone in the club’s long-term vision to strengthen Johor’s professional football ecosystem.
The ambitious development, located on a 39-acre site directly opposite the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, is set to become one of the most advanced football training hubs in Asia once completed.
The new integrated facility will house every JDT team from academy level to the senior squad and will feature a wide range of international-standard infrastructure, including multiple high-quality training pitches, indoor training facilities, a sports science centre, rehabilitation and recovery units, a modern gymnasium, medical centre, performance analysis department, mini stadium, auditorium, player accommodation and dedicated youth development spaces.
The project reflects the continuing vision and commitment of Tunku Ismail, who also serves as the owner of Johor Darul Ta’zim, in transforming the Southern Tigers into a fully modern and globally competitive football institution.
Since taking over the club, the Regent of Johor has spearheaded a football revolution in Malaysia, elevating JDT into the country’s dominant force while also establishing the club as a respected name in Asian football.
The new training centre is expected to take between two to three years to complete and is designed to further strengthen both elite player development and grassroots football structures within Johor.
The development reinforces JDT’s ambition to continue setting new standards in Malaysian and regional football infrastructure.
Beyond supporting the club’s senior ambitions domestically and internationally, the facility is also expected to play a vital role in nurturing future local talents through a more structured and professional academy environment.
Several key Johor state officials accompanied the Regent during the ceremony, including Tunku Iskandar Ibni Tunku Ismail and Tunku Abu Bakar Ibrahim Ibni Tunku Ismail.
Also present were JDT Chief Executive Officer Luis Garcia, Chief Operating Officer and Technical Director Alistair Edwards, head coach Xisco Munoz, along with senior and academy players from the club.
The launch of the new training centre once again underlines Johor Darul Ta’zim’s determination to expand their football empire and maintain their status as the benchmark club in Southeast Asian football.
