Kim Pan-gon, head coach of Malaysia national team is pleased with the performance of his players as they secured a 2-2 draw against the Syria national team in a recent friendly match.
This result mirrors the outcome of a previous friendly match between the two teams in September 2023, held in China.
Pan-gon expressed his happiness with the team’s display on the field, seeing it as a positive indicator ahead of the AFC Asian Cup 2023. Tying with a team like Syria, especially in consecutive matches, can serve as a confidence boost for the Malaysia national team as they approach the prestigious tournament.
“A good start, but we conceded against a team ranked 91st in the world. I was happy with the performance of the players, especially in the first half, before we changed players in the second half.” Pan-gon said.
“It was not an easy game and after 65 minutes, we changed all the players and we managed to tie the score to 2-2. We dominated the end of the game to keep up with them.
“I think the players will be more confident before facing Jordan. With this list of players, I’m optimistic we can challenge,”
