Lee Man FC, a club from Hong Kong, passes to Play-Off stage after beating Bali United, a club from Indonesia, with a score of 5-1 in the AFC Champions League 2023/24 Preliminary Round at Hong Kong Stadium.
The duel took place fiercely since the early minutes. Lee Man immediately kicked off and managed to take the lead in the eighth minute thanks to Mitchell Paulissen’s goal.
Three minutes later Bali United managed to equalize at 1-1. The equalizing goal came via a Tsui Wang Kit own goal.
Not long after, in the 13th minute, Gil Martins brought Lee Man back ahead. Martins scored a goal that brought Lee Man a 2-1 lead.
Bali United then tried to catch up by dominating possession. However, the attacks built by Eber Bessa and his friends often ran aground before penetrating the penalty box.
Lee Man’s tight defense and hard game succeeded in frustrating Ilija Spasojevic and Privart Mbarga.
Instead of scoring a goal, Bali United’s goal conceded again in injury time. Lee Man’s quick counterattack which was ended by Camargo’s measured shot successfully changed the score to 3-1.
In the second half, Paulissen increased Lee Man’s lead to 4-1 in the 56th minute. This was Paulissen’s second goal against Bali United
Bali United’s suffering increased after Lee Man managed to widen the lead to 5-1 through the action of Jose Angel in the 86th minute.
This result made Bali United fail to qualify for the AFC Champions League group stage. Bali United will automatically go down in caste to the AFC Cup along with PSM Makassar.
