Kuala Lumpur City has reached to final after slash Terengganu FC by penalties shoot-out 4-2 after draw in 120 minutes with a score of 0-0 in the Piala FA Malaysia 2023 at Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium, Gong Badak.
In action in front of 26,500 loyal fans, Terengganu was almost ahead of the attempts of their imported striker, Ivan Mamut when the new game lasted 54 seconds, but Sony Norde failed to grab before being sent off by KL City defense.
Terengganu got a second chance through a slow barrage from outside the captain’s penalty box, Habib Haroon, who only slightly strayed to the right of the goal guarded by Azim Al Amin.
Throughout the first half, KL City only had two precise attempts by midfielder Sebastian Avanzini in the ninth minute and Paulo Josue in the 39th minute who failed to find the target.
In the 61st minute, Terengganu changed strategy by bringing in two new forces, Jordan Mintah and Nik Muhamad Sharif Haseefy Mohd Lazim to replace Mamut Engku Muhammad Nur Shakir Engku Yacob to chase the first goal, but still failed.
Likewise, KL City made two exchanges by entering two strikers, Romel Morales and Sean Giannelli to replace Kipre Tchetche and T Saravanan, also failing to find a touch of tissue with each thick defense.
Realizing that he still failed to find the net, Steinbruckner entered two more new forces, Faiz Nasir and Safwan Mazlan to replace Adisak Kraisorn and Argzim Redzovic.
However, the match still failed to break the goal deadlock despite dominating the game so the match continued to the decision of a penalty kick before KL City scored a 4-2 victory to move on to the final stage.
