Yazan Al-Arab, defender of Jordan’s national team and ex-player Selangor FC, has not given up hope of playing in Malaysia. And hopes to return to Malaysia one day.
Yazan was banned for a lifetime by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) after being found guilty of kicking the referee during a match in the Piala Malaysia 2023 quarter-final second leg against Terengganu FC. And his contract with Selangor FC was terminated by mutual consent after the sentence was handed down.
After that, Yazan did not play competitive football for three months and will move to play with Al-Shorta in the Iraqi Premier League second leg of the season 2023/24 after end of the AFC Asian Cup 2023.
However, despite not playing football for 3 months, he was still able to perform brilliantly to help Jordan against Malaysia 4-0 in the first action of the AFC Asian Cup 2023 Group Stage, Group E last monday.
“The match against Terengganu was quite difficult for me. After the match, I did not play football (competitively) for three months before I moved to Iraq to join Al-Shorta in January.” Yazan said to the media after the match.
“I hope FAM can make a new decision and help me play again in Malaysia.”
“I like Malaysia and its people. I miss the fans there, especially the Selangor fans. I want to congratulate them for qualifying for the AFC Champions League 2,”
Yazan moved to join Selangor FC in season 2022, made 35 appearances, and scored 3 goals.
