Indonesia U17 national team clinch the first point in this tournament after tying with the Ecuador U17 national team, scoring 1-1 in the FIFA U17 World Cup 2023 Group Stage, Group A at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya.
Indonesia came under pressure from Ecuador from the start of the first half. Michael Bermudez fired a shot which goalkeeper Ikram Al Giffari was able to secure in the third minute.
Entering the 16th minute, Indonesia then pushed back through Kafiatur Rizky. However, the ball was still secured by goalkeeper Cristhian Loor.
Five minutes later, the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium crowd roared to welcome Indonesia’s goal scored by Arkhan Kaka. It started with Riski Afrisal’s cross which goalkeeper Cristhian Loor blocked. Then, Arkhan Kaka executed the ball perfectly with a horizontal kick.
Unfortunately, Indonesia’s lead only lasted until the 28th minute. Ecuador managed to equalize through Allen Bando’s header which maximized Santiago Sanchez’s cross.
After that, Ecuador scored the second goal against Indonesia in the 45th minute through Jair Collahuazo. However, the referee disallowed the goal because Allen Obando was already in an offside position. The 1-1 score lasted until halftime.
Entering the second half of the match, Indonesia received attacks from Ecuador. In the 55th minute, Ecuador’s goal was threatened by Michael Bermudez’s kick, and the goalkeeper managed to secure it.
Indonesia was put under pressure again in the 66th minute through Allen Obando. However, the ball from his kick was still caught by goalkeeper Ikram Al Giffari.
Ecuador was really frustrated when they got a chance through Bermudez. The ball from his kick was still able to be secured by the goalkeeper.
In the 82nd minute, Ecuador almost scored through Yandri Vásquez. However, the ball from his kick still hit the crossbar of the Indonesia goal.
Ecuador almost increased their lead in the 90+3 minute. However, the ball from Allen Obando’s header was still able to be secured by the Indonesia goalkeeper. Until the long whistle sounded there were no additional goals.
This draw means Indonesia is in second place in Group A standings with 1 point. Morocco occupies the top of the standings with three points.
