Stefan Tarkovic, head coach of Kyrgyz Republic National team, admitted being angry and disappointed with the results in the match defeat to Malaysia national team 3-4 in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers Round 2 Group D last night.
Kyrgyz Republic led 3-1 until the 71st minute, but three Malaysian goals, each in the 72nd, 77th and 90th minutes, saw them fall 4-3.
“I am angry and disappointed with this result. Defensive mistakes cost us four goals. To score three goals and not bring home a point is not good.” Tarkovic said in the post-match press conference.
“We didn’t play well in the first 25 minutes because we didn’t put much pressure on the opposition. We changed our attitude and played better until we scored three goals in a row.”
“But the situation that changed everything was when our striker who played in Germany, Victor Maier failed to finish the chance. Then our goalkeeper was injured and we made a substitution.”
“There are five games left and we will face Oman at home. We need to forget tonight’s game (yesterday) and do a deep analysis to perform better.”
“We performed well but individual mistakes punished us. So we will do our best to face Oman to please the fans who came to the stadium,”
