IDEMITSU Honda LCR’s Somkiat Chantra will miss this weekend’s Grand Prix of France as he continues to recover from arm pump surgery undergone on April 30th.
Following a post-operative evaluation, renowned MotoGP surgeon Dr. Xavier Mir, who performed the procedure, advised against an early return. Although Chantra’s rehabilitation is progressing positively, he has not yet regained full strength required to safely compete at the highest level.
“Somkiat’s health and long-term performance are our top priorities,” the team stated in an official release. “We fully support the medical recommendation and remain committed to giving him the time he needs to recover completely.”
The absence marks a temporary setback for the Thai rider, who has been a consistent performer in the Moto2 category. The team is optimistic about his return and is confident he will come back stronger once fully fit.
A comeback timeline has yet to be confirmed, but expectations are that Chantra could be back on the grid in the next few rounds, pending medical clearance.
