Buriram United take advantage inthe first match after beating BG Pathum United scoring 3-1 in the Shopee Cup 2024/25 semi-final 1st leg at Buriram City Stadium, Buriram.
Buriram United wasted no time asserting their dominance. In the 24th minute, Supachai Jaided capitalized on a deflected shot off BG Pathum’s Nika Sandokadze, sending the ball past goalkeeper Saranon Anuin to put the hosts ahead 1-0.
Despite pressing hard for an equalizer, BG Pathum United struggled to break down Buriram’s solid defensive line, with goalkeeper Chatchai Bootprom making crucial saves.
Before halftime, Buriram nearly doubled their lead as Supanat Mueanta’s powerful strike rattled the post in the 39th minute, leaving BG Pathum United relieved to head into the break trailing by just one goal.
BG Pathum United found their breakthrough in the 54th minute when Ilhan Fandi capitalized on a goalkeeping error from Chatchai Bootprom, heading home a corner to make it 1-1.
However, Buriram United responded just three minutes later. Pansa Hemviboon smashed in a half-volley from a Peter Sulj corner to restore the home side’s lead at 2-1.
As BG Pathum United pushed forward in search of another equalizer, Buriram struck a decisive blow in the 74th minute. Guillerme Bissoli unleashed a stunning long-range strike, sending the ball crashing into the net to seal a 3-1 victory for the Prasat Thunder Castle.
With a two-goal cushion, Buriram United holds a strong advantage heading into the second leg, set for May 7, 2025, at Pathum Thani Stadium.
