Johan Ghazali, a Malaysian-American boxing, lost to Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat, a Vietnamese boxing, by unanimous decision in the WMF Muay Thai Champion in ONE 167 at IMPACT Arena Muangthong Thani, Nonthaburi Thailand.
Johan or ‘Jojo’ entered the ring in the flyweight category with a high fighting spirit and, at one point, managed to do a solid fight so that the braces of the five-time WMF Muay Thai champion came out in the first round.
Continuing in the second round, the fight between these two boxers seemed to be balanced with Duy Nhat’s kick hitting Johan almost causing him to fall, but the Malaysian representative continued to try to push even though he appeared to be in pain.
At the beginning of the third round, Johan’s punch hit Duy Nhat until the opponent fell, but the 18-year-old national boxer continued to ‘test’ the opponent before the match was stopped by referee Olivier Coste for injury time.
Johan continued to ask for the match to continue in the last 55 seconds which saw Duy Nhat continue to push before the bell rang, and the match was won by the Vietnamese representative based on a ‘unanimous decision’.
It was Johan’s first defeat after six fights since February last year, thereby missing the chance to win a US$50,000 (RM235,332.68) performance bonus.
This is a first time Johan Ghazali losing to Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat in ONE fight.
