Malaysian women’s doubles pair, Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan, made history by reaching the semi-finals for the first time for a Malaysian team after defeating the Korean pair Kim So Yeong and Kong Hee Yong in the quarter-finals of the women’s doubles event at the Olympics 2024, held at Porte de La Chapelle Arena, Paris.
Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan delivered an impressive performance, winning in straight sets with scores of 21-12, 21-13 in just 42 minutes of action.
With this victory, Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan became the first women’s doubles pair from Malaysia to advance to the semifinals of the Olympics.
They will now face the Chinese pair Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan in the semi-final, marking a rematch from their earlier encounter in the group stage, Group A, of this tournament.
