Nidzam Jamil, head coach of Selangor FC emphasized that ‘history’ is not enough as ‘capital’ because he only wants players who are genuinely at the best level to carry the challenge of the team in the Liga Super Malaysia this season.
However, Nidzam, who is also a former Selangor player, admits he is facing ‘problems’ at the moment considering that all the players have shown commitment and good performance throughout the pre-season campaign so far.
“I don’t like to talk about past performances, and we shouldn’t talk about past things. What’s important is the player’s current achievements,” said Nidzam.
“Football is today, not about last night. If everyone gives effort, works hard and encourages each other, we will be willing to play,”
“In the context of SAC 2024, I am satisfied because we were not fouled because the principle of football is to defend the goal and then we go get the goal.
“But for the indicators in the league later, we have standards that we set. It’s not just the attack aspect that needs to be improved, but the defense also needs to be improved,”
