Malaysian-born footballer Muhammad Khalil, also known as Abu, marked his debut in Thai League 1 with Nakhonpathom United.
He joined the club on loan from Malaysia Super League side Selangor FC, famously known as the Red Giants.
His first match ended in a hard-fought draw against Bangkok United F.C., the league’s second-ranked team.
“First, I want to thank God for His almighty grace for giving me the opportunity to debut with Nakhon Pathom. It wasn’t easy playing my first game after a three-to-four-month break in Japan. The intensity was high, and I felt the need to adapt quickly,” Abu shared.
Earlier, Abu had a brief stint with Japanese club FC Osaka, joining them on loan after a trial from June 24 to July 2. Despite the short period, he valued the experience, noting that the high intensity of Japanese football helped him grow as a player. He is now focused on maintaining consistency in the upcoming games.
“The team’s goal aligns with mine—we want to secure a better position in Thailand League 1 and stay consistent,” he stated.
Looking ahead, Abu hopes his performances in Thailand will earn him a call-up to the Malaysian national team.
“I hope to continue receiving support from Malaysian fans, and I promise to give my best to maintain my performance here in Thailand,” he added.
