Sabah FC has overtake 3rd pace of the tabe after beating PDRM FC scoring 1-0 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2024/25 at Likas Stadium, Kota Kinabalu.
In a highly anticipated clash, Martin Stano’s men entered the match determined to bag all three points and consolidate their position in the top three. The breakthrough came in the 42nd minute when defender Dominic Tan rose above the PDRM defense to head home the opener, sending the home crowd into jubilation.
Sabah dominated the first half with aggressive pressing and disciplined defending, taking a deserved 1-0 lead into the break.
PDRM, however, came back stronger in the second half, introducing Ifedayo Olusegun in the 58th minute to add firepower in the final third. The Nigerian striker brought immediate urgency to the visitors’ attack, but Sabah’s backline held firm under pressure.
Controversy erupted in the 72nd minute when Sabah were awarded a penalty following a foul on Saddil Ramdani. The Indonesian winger stepped up to convert, only for the goal to be disallowed after a VAR review ruled encroachment in the build-up—much to the frustration of the home fans.
Despite the setback, Sabah remained composed and disciplined to see out the final minutes. Their solid defensive structure and sharp counterattacks ensured they held on to the 1-0 scoreline until the final whistle.
With this crucial win, Sabah climbed to third place in the standings on 39 points, three ahead of Kuching City as the race for AFC competition slots heats up.
