Negeri Sembilan FC wrapped up the first round of the Liga Super Malaysia 2025/26 in emphatic fashion after securing a 2-0 victory over Kelantan TRW FC at Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium, Paroi, on Tuesday.
Originally scheduled to be played in Kota Bharu, the fixture was moved to Paroi due to adverse weather conditions — a switch that Negeri Sembilan fully capitalised on. The win marked their first three-point haul since October 25, when they defeated PDRM FC 2-0 at the same venue.
Both teams started brightly, trading attacks in an open opening spell as they looked to assert early dominance.
Negeri Sembilan’s intent paid off in the 36th minute when Luqman latched onto a perfectly weighted through ball from Jovan Motika, calmly slotting past Kelantan goalkeeper Azfar Arif Mohd Shukri to give the hosts a deserved lead.
The goal injected further belief into Nidzam Jamil’s men, who continued to press and finished the first half firmly on the front foot.
The Deer wasted no time after the restart. In the 49th minute, Luqman punished a costly error from Azfar Arif, who failed to clear the ball outside his penalty area. The striker pounced, rounded the keeper and rolled the ball into an empty net to complete his brace.
Despite falling two goals behind, Kelantan TRW FC, under Akmal Rizal Ahmad Rakhli, showed resilience and attempted to mount a comeback. However, their efforts were repeatedly denied as Negeri Sembilan’s defence held firm until the final whistle.
