Kedah Darul Aman keep 3 points in important match after beating Penang FC with a score of 2-1 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2023 at Stadium Bandaraya, Pulau Pinang.
KDA FC kicked from the start, and Manuel Hidalgo took a corner kick, greeted by Manuel Ott, followed by a short delivery to Ifedayo Olusegun, who tried to score but was pushed over by the goalkeeper, Azfar Arif.
It was unfortunate for Penang when the ball landed at the feet of midfielder Fadzrul Danel, who made an effortless look and opened the net in the seventh minute.
The host’s imported striker, Soony Saad then pulled it together in the 32nd minute after stealing the ball from the defender’s escort, Mohd Akmal Zahir before easily scoring a goal so close to the opponent’s goal.
In the second half, Rafael Vitor almost scored the hosts’ second goal with a header but referee called off the goal after he was shown to have turned down a visiting player.
Penang was forced to play with 10 men when Adib Ra’op was sent off after receiving a second yellow card in the 76th minute.
The decision allowed Kedah to strengthen its grip on third in the league with 43 points from 20 games while Penang stayed in 10th with 19 points.
