Johor Darul Ta’Zim still stay on top of the table after beating Sabah FC scoring 4-0 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2024/25 at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.
Despite a goalless first half, Hector Bidoglio’s squad returned after the break with a relentless attacking display, netting four goals to secure their 16th victory of the season.
The breakthrough came in the 51st minute when Juan Muniz delivered a stunning free kick that left Sabah goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi Che Mat rooted to the spot.
Muniz struck again in the 64th minute, converting a well-timed pass from Heberty Fernandes to double JDT’s lead.
Bergson da Silva, JDT’s prolific striker, added to his impressive tally with a clinical penalty in the 80th minute, calmly slotting the ball past Khairul Fahmi.
Bergson capped off the night with a sensational solo effort in the 83rd minute, dribbling past defenders before firing home to complete JDT’s rout.
With this emphatic victory, JDT solidified its position at the top of the Super League table, amassing 49 points from 17 matches, with an unbeaten record of 16 wins and one draw.
This loss was a setback for Sabah FC, who had otherwise had a strong campaign. After 15 matches, they remain in third place with 29 points, maintaining a significant gap over the chasing teams.
