Johor Darul Ta’Zim near makes history as unbeaten champions after beating Kedah Darul Aman with a score of 4-1 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2022 at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.
In the action, JDT again got the touch of the prolific striker, Bergson Da Silva, to strengthen the attack line, but at the same time missed the services of Fernando Forestieri due to injury.
As soon as the action of the first half started, JDT invited the visitors’ defense to be anxious after Arif Aiman’s pass went straight to Bergson who finished it but the goal bar became an obstacle when the goalkeeper, Shahril Sa’ari was already lost.
Two minutes later, it was Leandro Velazquez’s turn to test KDA’s goal, but a free kick from a distance of 25 meters to the right corner of the goal was successfully deflected by Shahril.
Throughout the 30 minutes of the first half, the Southern Tigers squad dominated the game more often but had to face a line of Kedah players who practiced the ‘village’ style in their own area.
Unfortunately for Aidil Shahrin who had to take Shahril off after the player suffered an injury after colliding with Bergson in the 37th minute.
Despite trying to defend, Sang Kenari’s main goalkeeper was unable to continue the game and the goalkeeper’s position was taken over by Ilham Amirullah Razali.
With a minute left in the action, Ronald Ngah surprised the home team after Mahmoud Al-Mardi’s ball successfully caught the goalkeeper, Farizal Marlias for the visitors’ first goal.
Entering the second half, JDT’s continuous attack yielded results when match referee Mohd Hasrul Mohd Amin awarded a penalty kick after Corbin Ong’s cross ball hit Loqman Hakim Marzuki’s hand.
Bergson who took the penalty kick in the 50th minute beat Ilham Amirullah to make it 1-1 and it was the 26th goal in the league for the Brazilian import player.
JDT snapped Sang Kenari’s effort to hunt for victory when he scored the second goal of the match in the 62nd minute through an interesting move by Arif Aiman who passed the ball to Afiq Fazail.
The player quickly crossed the ball straight to the substitute, Syafiq Ahmad who was in the best position to kick the ball to beat Ilham.
Less than five minutes later, JDT continued to add to the suffering of Aidil Shahrin’s student when Syafiq scored his second personal goal thus leaving the Harimau Selatan squad comfortable with a score of 3-1.
With two minutes left in the action, Bergson added to his 27th goal collection when he scored his second personal goal after heading in a cross from substitute Safawi Rasid and the 4-1 position in favor of JDT remained until the end of the match.
