Johor Darul Ta’Zim made a record wins 20 consecutive matches after beating Perak FC with a score of 5-0 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2023 at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.
JDT’s neat streak of play, which controlled every position as well as the game, began almost opening a net account as early as the second minute after Oscar Arribas’ cross ball was almost stopped by Endrick Dos Santos but the goal keeper, T Shaheeswaran, was able to brush off the ball.
Although forced to find space to make moves after Perak players preferred to stay in their own area, he did not prevent JDT from creating a net in the 21st minute after Heberty Fernandes exploded over a barrage from 25 meters to kill Shaheeswaran.
Six minutes later, JDT punished the mistake of Perak’s stronghold after the ball stemmed from Juan Muniz’s corner kick which was headed by Matthew Davies which was also the first personal goal with the JDT this season.
Shaheswaran’s mistake, which failed to kick the ball out, stemmed from the ball behind Raja Imran Shah in the 35th minute, causing the Perak FC guard to slip and at the same time brought luck to Bergson Da Silva, who only managed to pick up the ball for JDT to comfortably lead 3-0.
As good as the second half, JDT almost added to the net in the 49th minute after Arif Aiman Hanapi’s through ball was struck by Bergson who kicked the ball slowly but only narrowly to the right of the Perak goal.
JDT’s proteges did not wait long to add to Silver’s misery in the 55th minute after captain Jordi Amat’s long kick was right at Arribas who moved on the left wing to infiltrate into the penalty box and spread a fast ball.
It turned out that JDT was in a separate class when they added a fifth goal in the 66th minute after Muniz took a free kick from 25 meters right to the right corner of the goal and the 5-0 in favor of JDT lasted until the match ended.
After just 20 matches, JDT continue to maintain a clean record without defeat and the 20th win in a row makes it an ‘incredible’ achievement for the JDT since their transformation in 2013.
