Bojan Hodak, head coach of Kuala Lumpur City revealed yesterday that the AFC Cup 2022 final against the Al-Seeb from Oman on 22 October is likely to take place at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
He said this because the KLFA Stadium in Cheras did not meet the standards required by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to host the event.
The standard of the stadium for play in the final match needs to support the installation of a video assistant referee (VAR) system and the brightness issue of the floodlights not reaching 1800 lux.
The situation caused the KL City players to be a little disappointed because their wish to play at home did not come true.
“AFC wants to use VAR and needs to have 1800 lux for floodlight brightness which is not here (KLFA Stadium).” Hodak said yesterday in a press conference after a match against Terengganu FC in Liga Super Malaysia 2022 at yesterday.
“All the players and coaches want to play in Cheras because they are familiar with this stadium but due to technical issues we have to play in Bukit Jalil,”
