Kelantan FC gave an explanation about the allegations of one of their players, Nurshamil Abd Ghani who said the team asked him for RM50,000 if they wanted to end the contract early.
Previously, Nurshamil said this through his social media page recently where he also revealed other flaws that occurred in the team.
“TRW Kelantan FC would like to comment on the viral issue of the Club’s claim to a player named NURSHAMIL BIN ABDUL GHANI in the amount of RM50,000.00 for the termination which was sensationalized by some parties thus creating a negative perspective for the Club.” Legislative Department of Kelantan FC said in announcement.
“For information, the Club has received an application for joint contract termination from the Player who applied for May 2023 as the last month with the Club. The player is one of the most important and influential players in the team and has been an important figure for the club for the past 2 seasons where he has won the title of top scorer locally for two consecutive seasons. For his excellent and encouraging performance, the Club has also given him appreciation by agreeing to give him a salary increase.”
“Based on the popularity and reputation achieved by the Player with the Club as well as his importance in the team, and more importantly the investment the Club has spent on the development of his football performance and abilities, the Club feels it is inappropriate to terminate his contract together without any compensation to the Club.”
“For your information, the player has a remaining contract until November 2024. In the case of termination of the contract before the end of the term by the player, either jointly or unilaterally, the Club has the right to demand compensation equal to the value of the salary for the remaining period of the player’s contract. In this case, the player still has eighteen (18) months (June 2023 – November 2024) remaining on his contract.”
“Even so, the RM50,000 claimed is only about half of the remaining value of the contract that the Club is entitled to claim. This actually shows how valuable and important the Player is to the Club where his departure will slow down the Club’s preparations for the second round of the league.”
“The club always respects the decision of each player in this matter, but the club’s investment in player development must also be taken into account where the club will certainly suffer a loss if the player who is seeded and developed just needs to be as simple as asking for mutual termination without compensation and then freely entering another club to reap the benefits which is higher. This culture must be detrimental to the Club while this Club which hones and develops the talent of the Player does not receive any benefit from the transfer of the developed player.”
“The value of RM50,000.00 is not a final value and the Club is still open to negotiations to reach a mutually agreed termination in good and harmonious conditions that provide benefits to all parties.”
“The Club hopes that this explanation is clear and that all parties stop sensationalizing this issue.”
