Hector Bidoglio, head coach of Johor Darul Ta’zim revealed that the team’s relentless pursuit of victory was the key motivation behind their triumphant capture of the Unifi Piala Malaysia 2024/25 title.
JDT once again showcased their championship pedigree by coming from behind to defeat Sri Pahang FC 2-1 in a pulsating final at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium. Despite an early setback when T. Saravanan fired Sri Pahang into the lead, the Southern Tigers roared back with a penalty conversion from Bergson da Silva and a thunderous winner by Arif Aiman Hanapi to seal the crown.
The victory ensured JDT maintained their iron grip on the Malaysia Cup, extending their reign since 2022 and securing a historic 30th major trophy in club history.
When asked about the secret behind JDT’s consistent dominance, Bidoglio emphasized a simple yet powerful philosophy — focus solely on winning.
“In every final, I tell my players, ‘We don’t analyze finals. We must win them,’” Bidoglio declared during the post-match press conference.
“I didn’t overanalyze this match either. When you play in a final, the only thing that matters is winning. Tonight, the team played with spirit, character, and technical quality. And now, JDT are champions once again.”
The Venezuela-born tactician has now secured his second Malaysia Cup title, after first lifting the trophy in 2022. It also marks JDT’s fifth Malaysia Cup triumph overall, further cementing their status as Malaysia’s football powerhouse.
