Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) head coach, Hector Bidoglio, remains grounded despite his team’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Sabah FC at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri, last night.
With the Liga Super title drawing closer, Bidoglio insists his focus remains on taking it one match at a time, especially with key fixtures still ahead.
While JDT’s dominant performance leaves them as clear league favorites, Bidoglio refuses to be complacent.
“I don’t want to think about the league championship anymore; the journey is still long. We don’t just have the league to focus on, but also an important match waiting—the Malaysia Cup semi-final,” said the Argentine tactician.
Reflecting on the win, Bidoglio acknowledged the challenges his team faced, particularly in the first half, as Martin Stano’s Sabah squad implemented a high-intensity style of play.
“We knew it would be a difficult and challenging match. In the first half, we didn’t play well—our ball control was unsatisfactory, and the player positioning at the start of the game wasn’t good either,” he explained.
However, the Southern Tigers turned the tide in the second half, showcasing the composure and tactical discipline that have defined their dominance in Malaysian football.
“In the second half, the players started to play without pressure, showing patience in attack. They controlled their positions well, moving the ball effectively across the wings without any rush,” Bidoglio added.
