Korea DPR reaffirmed their dominance in women’s youth football after defeating the Netherlands 3-0 in a one-sided final to capture the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025 crown — their second consecutive title and fourth overall in tournament history.
The Asian powerhouse, renowned for their tactical precision and relentless pressing, took command early and never looked back in Marrakech, delivering a statement performance that underlined their status as the queens of youth football.
Korea DPR wasted no time asserting control, breaking the deadlock through Kim Won-sim, who reacted quickest to a looping cross that the Dutch backline failed to clear. Her precise header gave the reigning champions an early 1-0 advantage.
The Netherlands struggled to cope with Korea DPR’s intense high press, and their resistance crumbled once again as Pak Rye-yong doubled the lead with a calm finish following a costly turnover deep in Dutch territory.
Things went from bad to worse for the Europeans before halftime when a defensive mishap compounded their misery — an under-hit back pass prompted a rushed clearance by goalkeeper Maren Groothoff, which ricocheted off Ri Ui-gyong and into the net for Korea DPR’s third.
With a commanding 3-0 lead, Korea DPR showcased their trademark discipline and game management in the second half, expertly controlling possession and tempo to keep the Netherlands at bay. Their defensive structure remained impenetrable, ensuring a flawless finish to a near-perfect campaign.
The result capped a remarkable run for the North Koreans, who have now lifted the trophy four times (2008, 2016, 2024, 2025) — cementing their legacy as the most successful nation in FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup history.
