Malaysian Moto3 sensation Hakim Danish Ramli will line up on the front row in Grid 2 for Sunday’s Moto3 Czech Grand Prix at the iconic Automotodrom Brno, continuing his impressive qualifying form after narrowly missing out on pole position by just 0.017 seconds.
The AEON Credit–MT Helmets–MSi rider once again proved he belongs among the Moto3 elite, following up Friday’s double lap-record performance with another outstanding qualifying display that earned him his third front-row start of the 2026 season, and his second Grid 2 start after the Italian Grand Prix.
Hakim advanced directly into Q2 after topping Friday’s Practice session, where he twice shattered the all-time Moto3 lap record at Brno.
The 18-year-old maintained his momentum in Saturday morning’s Free Practice 2, finishing P5 with a best lap of 2:05.354, just 0.960 seconds behind the session leader.
The result confirmed the Malaysian youngster remained one of the strongest contenders heading into the crucial qualifying session.
Hakim immediately established himself at the sharp end during Q2, producing a competitive lap in his opening run that temporarily placed him on the front row.
Returning to the circuit for his final attempt, the Malaysian looked set to snatch pole position after setting the last flying lap with exceptional pace through the first and third sectors. However, a slight mistake in the final sector prevented him from completing what could have been a pole-winning lap.
He ultimately stopped the clock at 2:04.086, ended P2, and was just 0.017 seconds shy of pole position.
Spain’s David Almansa of Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP secured pole with a blistering 2:04.069, while Hakim settled for an excellent second place on the grid.
The result marks another significant milestone in Hakim’s breakthrough Moto3 campaign.
After already demonstrating race-winning speed throughout the Brno weekend—including breaking the circuit’s all-time Moto3 lap record twice on Friday—the Malaysian now has an ideal opportunity to convert his pace into a strong race result and add valuable championship points.
Starting from Grid 2 gives Hakim a clear chance to challenge for victory when the lights go out on Sunday, as he continues to establish himself as one of Malaysia’s brightest rising stars on the Moto3 world stage.
With another front-row start secured and confidence soaring after a remarkable weekend in Brno, all eyes will now be on Hakim Danish as he targets a podium—and potentially his maiden Moto3 victory—at the Czech Grand Prix.
