Malaysia U19 national team have a good chance to semi-final after beating Singapore U19 national team scoring 5-0 in the ASEAN U19 Boys Championship 2024 Group Stage, Group C at Gelora 10 November Stadium, Surabaya.
The first half saw Malaysia leading the match with a 3-0 result. The opening goal was scored by defender Ridzwan Rosli, who headed in a free kick from Muhammad Abu Khalil. Five minutes later, young national striker Naim Zainudin capitalized on a defensive error by Singapore to score the second goal.
In the 34th minute, Singapore had a golden opportunity to score when the referee awarded a penalty kick after G. Pavithran fouled an opponent. However, Singapore striker Kian Jared’s attempt was brilliantly saved by Malaysian goalkeeper Haziq Aiman. Just before the end of the first half, G. Pavithran made amends with a beautiful free-kick goal, beating Singaporean goalkeeper Tauf Erwan to make it 3-0.
In the second half, Malaysian manager Juan Torres made several substitutions to strengthen the attack. This strategy paid off when substitutes combined to score the fourth goal. Abid Safaraz set up Faris Danish, who calmly finished to extend the lead. In the 82nd minute, a long throw into the penalty area by Malaysia was headed into the goal by substitute striker Izzat Syahir for the fifth goal.
Before the end of the match, Abid Safaraz received a red card for a hard tackle on the Singapore defense. Despite this, Malaysia secured a dominant 5-0 victory over Singapore.
