Malaysia National Futsal Team concluded their ASEAN Futsal Championship 2026 campaign in style after defeating Brunei National Futsal Team 8–4 in their final Group B match at the Nonthaburi Stadium, Nonthaburi.
Despite the emphatic win, Malaysia were unable to secure a place in the semi-finals after earlier defeats to Australia and Indonesia, finishing third in Group B.
Malaysia, coached by Addie Azwan Zainal, started the match aggressively and quickly took control of the contest.
Young talent Faaris Amsyar Marhaidi emerged as the star of the match, producing a brilliant hat-trick inside the opening minutes, scoring in the 4th, 5th and 22nd minutes to give Malaysia a commanding early advantage.
Brunei responded through Nur Yamin Muhammad, who pulled one back in the 21st minute, but Malaysia continued to dictate the pace of the match.
Malaysia extended their lead when Brunei’s Abi Syarillizam Sabtu inadvertently turned the ball into his own net in the 24th minute.
The goals kept coming as Iqbal Hazim Radzi added another in the 32nd minute, followed quickly by Muhammad Amirul Syahmi Mohd Sanusi just a minute later.
Late strikes from Aidil Zakwan Zaidi in the 37th and 38th minutes completed Malaysia’s impressive eight-goal tally.
Brunei did manage to find the net multiple times through Abdul Azim Boll Hassan, who scored twice (25th and 32nd minutes), and Nazirul Mubin Adruman, who added another in the 28th minute.
However, their efforts were not enough to prevent Malaysia from securing a convincing victory.
While the dominant performance provided a positive ending to the tournament, Malaysia’s earlier defeats meant the Harimau Malaya futsal squad missed out on a place in the knockout stage.
