Pure dominance. Jake Dixon (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) delivered an untouchable performance at the Gran Premio YPF Energía de Argentina, clinching victory in the Moto2 Grand Prix with an emphatic 3.5-second lead.
Manuel Gonzalez (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) secured a crucial 20 points in P2, while Celestino Vietti (Team HDR Heidrun) fought his way to a well-earned first podium of the season in P3.
Launching flawlessly from the front row, Dixon snatched the holeshot from polesitter Gonzalez. Filip Salač (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) made an aggressive start as well, quickly slotting into P3 before overtaking Gonzalez for P2, forming an early Marc VDS 1-2 at the front.
However, Gonzalez was determined to respond. A few laps later, he reclaimed P2 while Dixon began his relentless charge at the front. By Lap 5, Dixon’s lead had grown to 0.488 seconds, and by Lap 8, he had broken the one-second barrier. On Lap 12, the gap widened to over 1.5 seconds as the British rider continued his masterclass in race management.
The battle for the podium took a dramatic turn on Lap 11 when Salač attempted a move on Marcos Ramirez (OnlyFans American Racing) at Turn 5, leading to an incident that derailed Ramirez’s pursuit of Vietti in P3 and Aron Canet (Fantic Racing) in P4.
While the fight for the final podium spot raged on, Dixon was in cruise control at the front, untouchable in his pursuit of a debut win aboard a Boscoscuro machine. He crossed the finish line in dominant fashion, leaving Gonzalez to settle for second place, 3.5 seconds adrift. Vietti, determined to make amends after a disappointing Thailand round, successfully fended off Canet to claim P3 after a remarkable charge from ninth on the grid.
Canet ultimately finished in P4, collecting valuable points, while Ramirez rounded out the top five. Darryn Binder (ITALJET Gresini Moto2) took P6 ahead of an impressive Alex Escrig (KLINT Forward Factory Team) in seventh. Alonso Lopez (Team HDR Heidrun), star rookie Daniel Holgado (CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team), and Albert Arenas (ITALJET Gresini Moto2) completed the top ten.
This was nothing short of a Dixon demolition in Argentina—flawless, commanding, and a statement of intent. However, despite his incredible triumph, it is still Gonzalez who sits atop the Moto2 Championship standings as the paddock now turns its attention to Austin for the next showdown in two weeks’ time.
